Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) PDF Print E-mail

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the first common entrance test for seven national law schools in India. Being conducted for the first time in 2008-2009, the number of questions and marks alloted to each question is still undetermined.

However, the pattern of the exam will broadly be modeled on the entrance exam pattern of NLSIU. The entrance exams for LLB or undergraduate law programmes and LLM or postgraduate law programmes are conducted separately.

Duration of CLAT- 2 hours.

Important: There is no negative marking in the test.

 

CLAT test format for undergraduates

The questions asked in the entrance test at undergraduate level are objective type.

The questions in the first section are objective type. Other sections of your paper will only be valued, if you get at least 25 marks, out of 50, in this section.

CLAT eligibility

At undergraduate level:

Those appearing the final exams at 10+2 level may also apply.

At postgraduate level:

Students who have done their LLB from an accredited university with 50% marks can apply for LLM entrance exams. If you are appearing for final year in LLM, you can apply for the entrance test but your admission will be confirmed, only when you submit the results with required level of scores.

CLAT application procedure

  • Application forms and the brochure are available at the designated branches of the Corporation Bank and State Bank of India for 2,000 only (inclusive of bank charges and test fee, or
  • You can download the form online from www.clat.ac.in. Print the form, complete it and send it with all the enclosures and a Demand Draft of Rs 2,000 payable at Bangalore in favour of Convener, CLAT.

CLAT 2008: Important dates

Applications will be available from: 31st January
Application deadline (last date of submission): 10th April
Examination date: 11th May
Results are announced on: 17th May
Notification of vacancies: 31st May
Admissions are finalized on: 7th June
