All-India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) was created in 1956 to serve as a nucleus for nurturing excellence in all aspects of health care. It was established as an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament with the objects to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education in India. The Institute has comprehensive facilities for teaching, research and patient-care. As provided in the Act, AIIMS runs a variety of undergraduate courses in medicine, nursing and related areas , and postgraduate courses in virtually all the basic and clinical medical specialities and super specialities, and awards its own degrees. Admissions to these courses are based on entrance examinations conducted all over the country. Teaching and research are conducted in 42 disciplines. In the field of medical research AIIMS is the lead, having more than 600 research publications by its faculty and researchers in a year. AIIMS also runs a College of Nursing and trains students for B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing post-certificate) degrees. Twenty-five clinical departments including four super specialty centers manage practically all types of disease conditions with support from pre- and Para-clinical departments.

Eligibility

Candidates who have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English securing a minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates) in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English. The candidate should have 17 years of age.

By Post - The prospectus-cum-application form can also be obtained by Speed Post/Registered Post by sending a written request with an account payee bank draft for Rs 550 (Rs 450 for SC/ST candidates) payable to the Director, AIIMS, New Delhi. The bank draft issued by the State Bank of India should be drawn on State Bank of India, Service Branch (CODE NO. 7687), New Delhi.

The request must reach the Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi 110 029 . Money order/Cheque/Postal order/cash or any other form of payment will not be accepted for postal sale.

The words 'Request for Application form for MBBS Entrance Examination ' should be written on the envelope containing request for application form, and also on top of the request letter. The address at which the application form is required should be written clearly in capital letters and with pin code. AIIMS will not be responsible for delay in/non-receipt of application form caused by illegible or incomplete address.

Candidates must obtain application forms only from an authorized branch of SBI or by post from the examination section of AIIMS. Forms obtained from an unauthorized source will be rejected.
