Entrance Exams - Medical Entrance Exams
Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) PDF Print E-mail

Applications are invited for the Entrance Examinations for admission to the following Professional Degree
courses.

(a) Medical

  • MBBS 
  • BDS 
  • BPharm 
  • BSc (Nursing) 
  • BSc (MLT) 
  • BAMS
  • BHMS 
  • BSMS (Siddha) 
  • BSc–Nursing (Ayurveda)
  • BPharm (Ayurveda) .

(b) Agriculture

  • BSc (Agriculture)
  • BFSc (Fisheries) 
  • BSc (Forestry)

(c) Veterinary

  • BVSc & AH

(d) Engineering(B.Tech [including BTech (Agricultural Engg. / BTech (Dairy Sc. & Tech) courses under the Kerala Agr iculture University]

(e) Architecture( B.Arch)

Note:-
i) Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions as laid down in the Prospectus and who seek admission to the Government seats in
(i) Medical, Agriculture, Veterinary and Engineering Courses that are to be filled on the
basis of the rank in the Entrance Examinations
(ii) Architecture course that are to filled on the basis of rank list prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture and the grade/marks in the qualifying examination , should apply in the prescribed Application Form. For Medical/Agriculture, Veterinary and Engineering (except Architecture) the candidates should appear for the Entrance Examinations concerned. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not conduct Entrance Examination for B.Arch Course. However they should compulsorily appear for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and send their NATA score and mark lists of the qualifying examination before the stipulated time, that will be notified later. Candidates who wish to be considered for B.Arch course should send the application form before the stipulated time to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations .
ii) Allotments to Self- financing Colleges from the State Rank lists for all courses will be subject to the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in WP(C)s on the issues relating to Self-financing colleges pending before it and orders of Central and State Governments.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

(i) Nativity:
(a) Applicant should be an Indian citizen. PIO Card Holders who have studied/are studying in Kerala from
Class VIII to XII will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission.
(b) Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as
‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non- Keralites’.
(c) A candidate will be considered as a ’Keralite’, for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if (i)
he/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR (ii) he/she has been a resident of Kerala for a
period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR (iii) he/she has undergone his/her school studies from
Standard VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala.
Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’ .
‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ candidates are those who have undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who are the sons/daughters of Employees of the Government of India, or, employees who are serving in
connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala, subject to the condition that, all categories of the
employees mentioned above should have served in Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years, or, have served in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years. Such candidates will be eligible for admission to the Government seats under ‘State Merit’ only, for all the courses , which are filled on the basis of the rank in the Entrance Examination(s) or the rank list prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks in NATA and qualifying examination, as applicable.
Candidates who do not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite
Category-II”. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Self-financing Engineering Colleges in the State , subject to the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India .
Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats.

(ii) Academic qualification:

(a) Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary/BSc–Nursing(Ayurveda) and B.Pharm (Ayurveda) Courses:

Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary examination or examination recognized as
equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put
together. Those who wish to take admission to MBBS/BDS courses should acquire 50% marks in the
Medical Entrance Examination (As per the guidelines issued by Medical Council of India).
Candidates seeking admission to BVSc. & AH course under the Kerala Agricultural University, in addition to
the qualification prescribed under (a) above, should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks
in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together (as per the regulation of Veterinary Council of
India) .

(b)BPharm course:
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations
recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Mathematics/ Bio-technology/Computer
Science separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics/Biotechnology/
Computer Science put together are eligible. Such candidates will not be eligible for admission to
B.Pharm (Ayurveda) course. Candidates who have passed D.Pharm course with 50% mark in the final Diploma examination in Pharmacy are also eligible for admission to B.Pharm course, subject to the condition that they should have passed Higher Secondary/Pre-Degree or equivalent examination, with Physics , Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics
as optional. Such candidates will be eligible only for B .Pharm course and will not be admitted to other
Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary Courses.

(c) Eligibility of B .Sc. Degree holders:
Those who apply based on their BSc. Degree, for admission to MBBS, BDS , BAMS, BSMS, B.Sc (Nursing), B Sc (MLT) and B. Pharm courses, should have obtained their B.Sc. Degree with one of the subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bio-Chemistry as Main, and any one or two of these subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main and Subsidiaries taken together, provided they have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.

(d) Engineering Courses:
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry /Biotechnology /Computer Science/Biology put together are eligible for admission. Three year Diploma holders in Engineering having 50% marks in the final Diploma examination are also eligible for admission. However, these Diploma holders are not eligible for admission to the courses under the Kerala Agricultural University.

Architecture Course:
Candidates who have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Mathematics as a subject of examination, with 50% marks in aggregate are eligible. In addition to this only those candidates who score 40% marks in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) will be eligible for admission.

(e) Relaxation in marks in the Qualifying Examination:
For all courses, a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination will be allowed to those candidates who belong to the communities listed under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and OEC category, whose annual family income is up to Rs. 2.5 lakhs (Rupees Two Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only). SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. But candidates belonging to SEBC categories seeking admission to MBBS/BDS courses, need 4 5% marks in Biology and 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in Medical Entrance Examination . Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in the Entrance Examination for seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Courses. (As per the Guidelines of Medical Council of India). For B.Arch, the minimum score in NATA is 35% for candidates belonging to reserved category.

(b) Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for Qualifying Examinations:
Candidates who have not
passed the qualifying examination but have appeared/ are appearing for the Higher Secondary or equivalent
examination or the three -year Engineering Diploma examination this academic year, will also be permitted to take the Entrance Examination(s) provisionally. But, such candidates become eligible for admission only, if they pass the qualifying examination and thereby become eligible for admission before the commencement of the Centralized Allotment Process 2007. But candidates applying based on BSc Degree, referred to under 3 paragraph 2 (ii) (c) above, should have passed the Degree Examination at the time of submission of application.

(iii) Age:
The candidate should complete 17 years of age
