The NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE) is conducted by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology for admission to certificate, Diploma and Degree programmes. North-East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is conducting entrance exam for the eight North East states of India. The academic programmes offered in the institute are in the Engineering / Technology and Applied Science streams. The Engineering and Technology stream at NERIST consist of three modules (Certificate, Diploma and Degree) each of two years duration. In Applied science stream offers a two-year base module and four-year degree module. Each module has an entry point through an entrance examination conducted by NERIST. Each module also provides terminality corresponding to an occupational level, and at the same time allows entry to the next higher module, finally leading to a degree in engineering/technology. The system also allows lateral entry from outside with necessary pre-requisites, at the Diploma and Degree levels. Three different examinations known as NEE-I, NEE-II and NEE-III are held to take admission at three different levels. NERIST Entrance Examinations are conducted in various Centres located in the North Eastern States of India. Base Module in Technology
NEE consisting of one paper of 150 marks and three hours duration will be conducted at various centres located in the eight states of North East. All questions will be of objective type with multiple choice answers. For every wrong answer to a question 25% (¼th) of the marks carried by the question will be deducted from the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate. Eligibility: (i)Maximum Age Limit: 19 years (24 years for SC/ST/PH and 22 years for OBC and female candidates) as on 1st August, 2008 (ii) Qualification: Should have passed matric or Class-X examination of 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Science and Mathematics. The candidate should have passed in Science and Mathematics respectively. Candidates appearing in the above mentioned examination, but whose results are awaited may also appear in the NERIST Entrance Examination. A certificate to this effect is to be obtained from the Principal of the school and must be attached with the application. In case, such a candidate is selected, he/she must produce the original pass certificate and marks sheet at the time of his/her admission. Otherwise, his/her admission will automatically get cancelled.
Declaration of result: The result shall be declared in first week of June. It will be published in local news papers and put on NERIST web site www.nerist.ac.in
